Every President of the United States since the 1940s has designated March as Red Cross Month. This year, the Mayors of the City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, and City of North Las Vegas as well as the Commissioners of Clark County have all signed proclamations designating March as Red Cross Month. Here’s how the American Red Cross helps people in their communities each and every day:
- The Red Cross responds to a disaster in Southern Nevada every 20 hours, providing shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to those affected.
- The Red Cross provides 24-hour support to members of the military, veterans and their families here at home and around the world.
- The Red Cross distributed 69,900 units of blood to 9 of the 13 local Las Vegas area hospitals
- The Red Cross trains nearly 55 Southern Nevadans every day in first aid, water safety and other lifesaving skills.
