Today’s youth play a crucial role in making our communities great. We need these future leaders to use their energy and skills to help make a positive impact. A great way you can do this is by joining a Red Cross Youth Club!
What is a Red Cross Youth Club?
Red Cross Youth Clubs are school clubs led by students from middle school to college. By taking part in projects sponsored by Red Cross chapters, club members and youth volunteers can participate in activities that are both service and community oriented. Club members also help raise funds and increase awareness to the Red Cross mission:
“The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors”
What do Youth Club Members do?
As a youth club member you can support the Red Cross in its five lines of service delivery:
Disaster Services – Each year, the American Red Cross responds to
more than 70,000 disasters nationwide, and stands ready to support all affected in their immediate emergency needs.
Preparedness Health and Safety – By developing and implementing lifesaving training and education programs the American Red Cross helps
ensure that individuals, families and organizations are prepared when disasters and life-threating emergencies happen.
Services to the Armed Forces – The Red Cross provides support, including emergency support, to active-duty military members, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans and their families.
International Services – The American Red Cross works with the more than 180 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies worldwide that are devoted to alleviating human suffering wherever it is found.
Biomedical Services – For more than 50 years, the American Red Cross has been committed to ensuring the availability of the safest possible blood and blood products to help meet America’s blood needs. Thanks to the generosity of its millions of blood donors, the American Red Cross is the largest single blood supplier in the United States.
Benefits of Participating in a Red Cross Youth Club
Besides benefitting their communities, Red Cross Youth Club members benefit from taking part in the program as well. Club members develop leadership skills that they carry with them into their adult life. Personal development, community service and lifelong friendships are just some of the benefits for club members.
