The Red Cross is offering a free training session that will give participants the skills needed to teach children how to be prepared for disasters. The training session will be on Saturday – July 25 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Red Cross Regional HQ at 1771 E. Flamingo Rd. Suite 206-B.
This training, which teaches The Red Cross Pillowcase Project curriculum, will help children understand the science of hazards, become empowered to take action in preparing for emergencies, and are excited to share what they have learned with family and friends.
The Pillowcase Project was created in New Orleans following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Students were seen carrying their belongings in pillowcases when evacuating the city. Now, the Red Cross wants students to view their pillowcases as emergency supply kits, and keep them stocked full of necessities. This program is offered in all Red Cross Regions.
