The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 as a service that protected and treated troops injured in war. Since then, the American Red Cross has added disaster relief, collecting and distributing blood, emergency preparedness, and much more to its repertoire. While many other services have been added, serving America’s troops will always be a priority.
The Red Cross in southern Nevada has partnered with MGM International to create a program called Boots to Business. Boots to Business is an employment program that helps service members take their experiences from the field and translate them into skills that can be used in positions within MGM.
Recently, Rick Miller and Dick Moore of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) helped veterans tailor their résumé and interviewing skills for the corporate world in a Boots to Business seminar. These small group sessions enhance the successful transition of service members into civilian life.
