Red Cross Offers Special First Aid Training Geared For Athletic Coaches

As school begins, teachers and coaches swing into action with a new year of training and planning for their teams’ conditioning. And during that training, sometimes, there are injuries that are somewhat specific to student athletes.

Red Cross offers a special first aid training that was developed in association with the National Federation of State High School Associations as an overview and “best practices” for many first aid situations encountered by coaches, officials or spectators.

Curriculum covers Checking an Unconscious Athlete, Asthma, Sudden Illness, Heat Related Illnesses, Wounds, as well as Injuries to the Head Neck and Spine.

To find out more, go to http://www.redcross.org/take-a-class and select “First Aid, CPR and AED for Lay Responders” in the drop down  categories menu.

Be safe out there, and have a great athletic season!
