Remembering Firefighters…

Hi Everyone,

Please see and share the following message from our CEO, Scott Emerson.

Greetings everyone –

The recent loss of 19 firefighters at the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona is a sober reminder of the dangers inherit with these disasters. Red Cross is supporting the communities affected as well as having mental health professionals enroute to support the fallen firefighters families. Our deepest condolences are with the families. http://www.redcross.org/news/article/Red-Cross-Responds-to-Devastating-Arizona-Wildfire

Wildfires are burning in multiple places outside of southern Nevada at this time.

If you have not already done so, prepare today. Start by downloading the American Red Cross Wildfire App for smart phones or visiting http://www.redcross.org/prepare/disaster/wildfire

A map of the largest fires can be seen at http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/lg_fire2.php  or view one on the Red Cross Wildfire App.

The National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, ID houses the nation’s most extensive resources and maps at http://www.nifc.gov/fireInfo/fireInfo_maps.html

Thanks to the Red Cross volunteers staffing area cooling stations. We are partnering with City of Las Vegas to provide additional staffing as needed.

Please take extra precautions in dealing with the heat this week. It’s going to continue to be a scorcher for the next many days!
